About us

We were introduced to the wonderful world of Boxers when we acquired our first Boxer, Wienerwald’s Flying Lady, from Fritz Kosa in February 1977.

In November 1979 we established our kennel and registered the prefix TAMBAY with the Federation of Boxer Clubs of Southern Africa (FBCSA). We are proud to be associated with the FBCSA and have served on the Executive, the Panel of Judges, Panel of Breeders and Panel of Trainers in various positions for many years. We have also been very active in different positions on the committee of our member club, The Northern Boxer Club, which is affiliated to the FBCSA.

As a small kennel, we have never had more than 7 Boxers at any one time, and often we had a veritable old age home because we do not believe in re-homing our dogs. Our Boxers are part of the family and live with us in our home.

Our record:
  • First litter was whelped in 1979

  • Runner-Up Breeder of the Year: 1991, 1996, 1997, 2003

  • Many of the top breeders registered with the FBCSA today started with a foundation bitch from our kennel.

We pay tribute to the many Boxer lovers, who played an important role either directly or indirectly in our lives and that of our Boxers. To mention a few when we started out: Fritz Kosa, the late Basil Allen (Strathmere Kennels), Karin Rezewski, the late John Clarke and Fran Clarke (Ballyduff Boxers) and the late Yvonne Clegg (Charmwood Boxers), who was like a second mother to us.

One of our top priorities over the years has been to share our knowledge with and assist new Boxer owners, breeders and exhibitors, regardless whether they own a Tambay or not. Besides the pleasure of owning, breeding, showing and working Boxers, are the many long-lasting friendships and acquaintances that have been made over the years both locally and internationally with Boxer enthusiasts, who all have the same interest at heart:
