Amarula

Affectionately known as Aimee, she was initially reserved for Ralf Brinkmann in Germany. When she was ready to depart for her new home at 4 months, he was unable to take her due to personal circumstances. By then she was Franz’s favourite girl and the little lady could do no wrong, despite chewing off the handles of every steak and paring knife she could lay her paws on.
She was a multiple Best Puppy winner and became Show Boxer of the Year in 1998 winning five Best in Show awards. She ended her show career on a high by becoming Show Boxer of the Year for a second time in 2000, a feat not achieved by a female in the FBCSA as yet.
On conclusion of her show career she successfully completed the endurance trial and also achieved her Traffic Steady Companion Dog title. On passing a working trial test with 98%, the judge, a German Shepherd enthusiast, commented that he was now convinced that the Boxer could also work.
She had two litters which produced:

She was brought in regularly as alpha female in puppy socialisation classes. On joining such classes she always greeted puppies and owners with great enthusiasm and then quickly got down to the job of managing unruly puppies with great aplomb.
Her third pregnancy produced two non-viable puppies by c-section. Following the c-section she had severe blood sugar and insulin level fluctuations and it was believed that she had a tumour in the pancreas. This could not be confirmed despite numerous blood tests and scans.
When we bid her farewell a few months later, we agreed to an autopsy, which confirmed the presence of a tumour in the pancreas.
We will always remember her fondly for her many wonderful qualities, especially her sound disposition and sweet, endearing nature.
